This has been a total pain for the past few weeks on my fedora machine.

Install

sudo dnf install ffmpegthumbs

remove this dir –> ~/.cache/thumbnails

In dolphin, goto Settings>Configure dolphin>Previews –> Check the ‘Video files’ option

Restart the app
